Freak the Mighty is a book about two boys, Kevin and Maxwell, who don't fit the mold. Max is a little too big for his age, while Kevin(nicknamed Freak)is a little crippled boy. When Freak moves into the house next to Max, they become friends and call themselves, "Freak the Mighty", saying that they are nine feet tall. They're nine feet tall because Max puts Kevin on his shoulders a reasonable amount of times throughout the book. Max's mother is dead because his father, Kenny Kane(nicknamed, "Killer Kane") killed his mother while she was sleeping.
